Back in August the OMIP encouraged all the exchange students to sign up for Breakfast with the President. So I did, not realizing that several months later I would no longer find it quite so easy to wake up at 7:30...
We breakfasted in the University Club Room, which is a room with a rectangular table and not much else. Oh, and chairs. The room also contained chairs. The President of the University sat at one end, and the Dean of Students at the other. About half the people didn't show up, and for some reason most of them were concentrated on one side of the table (we followed a seating plan), so we were rather awkwardly arranged.
We were served orange juice and a plate with (1) egg, (2) sausages, (1/2) ham sandwich, and (1/2) tuna sandwich. Afterwards they brought us milk tea, which tasted better once I'd added brown sugar to it. Usually I dislike both adding sugar to tea and drinking Hong Kong milk tea...but combined...amazing! I wish I'd known this sooner!
As we were eating the president asked us questions about Lingnan, adjusting to Hong Kong, etc. that the people brave enough to break the awkward silence (not me) answered.
The rest of the day proceeded as normal. Class, class, lunch, ate an odd-shaped pear my roommate handed me, wrote the past few posts...and now I'm all caught up with the present! Whee!
