Souvenirs or shameless bribes?
I'm confused; I thought the new committees had already been chosen, yet the group of future committee members filling the ground-floor lobby smiles, greets me, and asks me to vote nearly every time I pass through. As far as I know, there's only one proposed new cabinet (is that the right word?) for each committee. What's the purpose of voting? Why all the campaigning? Would it be horribly rude if I asked?
In one of the elevators the new committee has been posting notices about sweet soup dinners they're having for different floors. Today there was a notice about "handing out new Hostel E souvenirs" 9 p.m. The wooden chopsticks (the kind I'll break apart and horribly mangle in the process) came in a hand-made cloth holder with a tiny label reading "E.Y.T." They asked for our e-mail addresses and reminded us to vote for them.
In trying to write posts before the day ends I've now extended the day longer than I wanted. But that's okay, because I've already written about the most interesting tidbits. And tomorrow night my weekend without studying begins! Woo hoo! The return of adventure!
